This stunning Lotus Elan Plus 2 (1969) was the property of a long standing club member, avid car collector and a very dear friend of ours, who sadly passed away recently. His loving family have entrusted us to bring this beautiful car to the market.
The Elan Plus 2 here is an immaculate example, having been the subject of over £31,000 worth of restoration works from 2016-2019. Over these 3 years, classic car specialist Pitt Lane Ltd carried out the following works:
- Full engine rebuild with all new parts inc. Weber conversion
- Full glass-out, bare re-spray with many exterior parts replaced and refurbished
- Full assessment of electrical system with any faulty items replaced
- Restoration of clutch and braking systems with all new parts
- New suspension bushes
All of this work, and much more is documented in the history file with every invoice present and photographic records of both the engine and body restoration. The Elan has been in single family ownership for nearly 20 years and had not seen much use until the restoration work was carried out. The MOT history dates back to 1986 and various logbooks from previous owners are also present. The work carried out on this car was done with no expense spared and finished to an exceptional standard.
The Elan is presented in its original and rare colour combination of Regency Red over Grey. During the body restoration, the owner decided that he wanted his Elan to have more symmetry, so opted to put an extra ‘power bulge’ on the near side with a NACA duct for cooler air to enter the engine bay. Although Elans of this year were built with Stromberg carburettors, this one was converted to more desirable twin Webers during the engine rebuild, giving the car more power in the process and a more throaty induction noise.
Overall, this Elan +2 is arguably one of the best sorted and finest examples on the market; it is fully run-in and ready to be enjoyed over the coming months.
