96 Club history - founded on a shared love of speed and style

The story of the formation of the 96 Club is the stuff of legend. When sports car driver Ray Bellm was 'done' for speeding on the public highway back in 1976, his Ferrari was clocked at 96mph. The resulting ban left Ray with the dilemma of how to enjoy the performance of his new steed. His friend, Michael Scott, had the bright idea of forming a 'track club' for circuit driving - the first of its kind - long before the phrase 'Track Day' was coined. The club name followed as a matter of course.

Monthly Rendezvous

The 96 Club has organised members' meetings for many decades. The most regular - on the 2nd Sunday morning of every month is our Rendevous, where members and guests gather in a private garden in central London to enjoy what has been called, many times, the most exclusive breakfast in town.

The magic recipe for these very successful meeting has always been the same - putting together a large variety of cars and their eclectic mix of owners. The informal setting is the perfect backdrop for some of the most discerning car collectors, engineers, connoisseurs and people who are simply passionate about their machinery from the classic, vintage and supercar world.Members Visits

Drawing on the club's classic and performance car trade membership and old friends of the founders of the club, members and friends are invited to exclusive visits to fabulous showrooms, workshops and other restoration and race preparation facilities. These are very special visits as our trade partners open doors to areas and projects in their works that are often kept secret.... These events are accompanied by refreshments, barbeques, picnics and lunches - making a full day of automotive immersion and indulgence!

We aim to arrange many different member visits over the course of each year where we can all meet, share experiences and enjoy some great hospitality.

Our club is regularly invited to display at car events and festivals throughout the course of the year.

Track Days and Evenings

The club holds track events where members and invited friends can enjoy their cars at a circuit exclusively hired by the club - only 96 Club cars are allowed on the track. Numbers are restricted so that everybody gets lots of clear laps to explore the capabilities of their cars and test their skills. We also provide free tuition from experienced instructors to help drivers develop their track skills and really exploit the potential of their cars.

Commercial Partners

Over the years we have collected and curated a group of carefully selected commercial partners who provide exciting and informative feature content for our members, at our events. Typically these partners might launch a new car or service exclusively to the club first and we ensure that they make tremendous efforts to create innovative benefits for our members.
